What's The Buzz About Our Luxury Whiskey Tasting
Derek is such an incredible guide! He knows so much about whiskey, has a passion for it, and is really great at explaining things to less knowledgeable people. The tasting took place in a heritage pub in Dublin, and we all really enjoyed the experience and the setting! If you have a couple of hours, want to have fun, and also get a good understanding of this popular Irish drink, then search no further! This is a must do for you!
From start to finish Derek was energetic and had a wealth of whiskey knowledge like no one i have met before. I have been to a number of whiskey tasting experiences in the past but none come close. Derek has pure passion for whiskey and brings you through the whiskey story connected to each brand but also adds in some history. Highly recommend for anyone interested in having a real whiskey experience.
Great tasting in Dublin
Great experience. We had a good time and enjoyed Derek’s knowledge of Irish whisky. He is a good storyteller and easy to follow. Definitely worth it!!
Wonderful experience, a must for anyone visiting Ireland. The experience was exceptional as Derek hosted us in a very authentic Irish pub and was extremely knowledgeable about whiskey. It was also great to be able to speak generally with a local about all things Ireland / Dublin. I would highly recommend for any visitor to Ireland.
Five Stars! Derek gave a whiskey sampling for us at Palace Bar in Dublin. We were a group of U.S. firefighters in Ireland to march with the Dublin Fire Brigade on St. Patrick’s Day. The Brigade set this up (thanks Declan!) and not only was it fun but also very informative. Derek walked us through different types and regions of good grain and everyone enjoyed. Would absolutely recommend!
This is a really unique tasting experience. It’s small group so you can ask lots of questions, and Derek is really knowledgeable. You also get to taste some really different whiskeys and the experience is super fun! Can’t recommend it enough.
Derek’s whiskey tasting was a highlight of our trip to Dublin. He was flexible with scheduling and selected whiskey at multiple price points, including some very accessible, and affordable options (a rarity at some tastings). His interactive and conversational style ensured all of our questions were answered. His passion for his work is evident, and he’s only matched by his enthusiasm. Highly recommend.
The host was excellent—knowledgeable and passionate about whiskey, answering all our questions and even helping with dinner recommendations. The relaxed venue was perfect for enjoying a few great pours, including some new favorites. If you have two hours and any interest in whiskey, this experience is absolutely recommended!
I’m so glad I did this tour! Derek is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Irish whiskey, sharing stories in a friendly, approachable way. His passion is contagious—I even found my new favorite Irish whiskey! He was also super helpful with restaurant and travel tips. If you want more than a typical pub crawl, this experience is highly recommended!
Since June 2023, I’ve been on an Irish whiskey tasting quest, but the session with Derek was both the foundation and capstone. Over 2.5 hours and 6 carefully selected whiskeys, his knowledge, patience, and storytelling stood out. Best of all, he was always available to answer questions and offer recommendations throughout the week. A truly memorable and invaluable experience!
This class was fantastic! It was the perfect thing if you’re like us and didn’t want a “touristy” experience at the distillery. Derek was knowledgeable and extremely friendly. He has a real passion for what he does and the experience is well worth the price. I’d go back again just to hang out with the host. I found a new favorite Irish Whiskey that evening and am going to be hunting it down once I reach America.
Such a great experience! If you are in Dublin, this experience needs to be on your list. Derek shares his knowledge and love for Irish whisky! We met at The Swan and the afternoon was perfection. I will book this tour again with all my friends! Thank you for such a magical day.
We booked the classic whiskey tasting at the Swan Bar for my husband, my 19 year old son and myself. We were so glad we did, it was one of the best experiences of our entire trip! Derek is incredibly knowledgeable and fun, we felt we were sharing cocktails with a friend. We are whiskey novices and learned so much! It was a truly great time, and the Swan Bar was beautiful and welcoming. Just book it! You’ll love it!
Great time had last week at the whiskey tasting experience organised by Derek and Neil. Had a group of about 13 of us all of whom enjoyed it and definitely learned a thing or two. Neil is highly knowledgeable and was able to give us a great overview or each sample we tasted.
My wife and I did a whiskey tasting with Derek recently, and it was the most relaxed and enjoyable we’ve experienced. With just one other couple, the atmosphere was friendly and informal. Derek was informative but encouraged everyone to share their thoughts. We loved learning about different whiskey glasses too. It wasn’t snobby at all—perfect for any level of whiskey knowledge. Highly recommend for a fun, down-to-earth tasting!
This has got to be our highlight of our Dublin experience. Derek was so personable and told us so many amazing stories about the whiskeys that we tasted. We chatted and drank and exchanged so

SO Glad we opted for this tasting! We’d looked at a single-brand tasting option, but chose this since it would be my bf’s first whiskey tasting. What a PERFECT choice!
Patrick was so knowledgeable and passionate. It was a pleasure to spend a couple hours with him.
Derek was a fun and knowledgeable guide. Very down to earth walking tour that takes you around a couple neighborhoods and local pubs, to taste and learn about great local Irish whiskey. Highly recommend as an alternative to corporate single brand whiskey tours, learn a bit about local life and how people enjoy the drink and support an awesome local business.
Derek was like the gandalf of whiskey, he know everything, even the silly questions I asked, looks sharp knows what he is talking about and a legend of a bloke, I’m now a whiskey drinker and so is Tim.
Fantastic experience with Derek who is an absolute gentleman and expert on all aspects of Irish whiskey. The tasting happened at The Swan Pub which was warm and comfortable. We sampled a top class lineup of whiskies and had interesting discussion and stories. Highly recommended.
We’re return customers—after doing the Irish Coffee class in Jan ’24, we brought friends for a private whiskey tasting in the Michael Collins room at the iconic Bank Bar. Derek was knowledgeable, patient, kind, and entertaining. The whiskies were diverse and delicious. Saying it didn’t disappoint is an understatement. We’ll definitely be back!
